Epson printers won't really print if one cartridge is not detected or detected as empty. The only option that i can suggest to you is that, buy a continous ink kit at any ink refilling station in your place. I highly recommend that dont leave a cartridge empty with ink cause it might clog your printhead. Using a continous ink system's cartridge is auto reset, whenever the printer says that the cartridge is empty, it will automatically resets itself. Ink refill kit comes with 100+ml of ink per color i think. And it is much cheaper using original epson ink.

If you have access to an ultrasonic cleaner that will take the printhead, use that. (These are used by jewellers and other people which have to clean small, intricate parts). Buy some Isopropyl Alcohol and soak the printhead in that overnight. (You can get it from the chemist). Use a Mr Cuppacino (or your Espresso machine).

It's a small kitchen appliance which creates a jet of steam for frothing milk for making a cappuccino. You can use the jet of steam to blast the print head. But be careful that you don't melt things - short, sharp jets only. Each time you try a cleaning method, use a damp paper towel to gently wipe and dry the print head area. Put a teaspoon of water in the bottom of the empty cartridge and try the cleaning cycle a few times.

Forgive me for asking this, but roughly speaking about 80 to 95% of problems involving ink or toner are resolved by the following: Are you using a factory new ink supplied by the manufacturer of the printer? If you are using a refilled or third party cartridge that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks causing problems with or damaging the physical printhead. Don Answered on Jul 14, 2011. This means that print jobs sent to the printer will not print untill the printer is unpaused. This setting is used mainly for maintenance purposes. To unpause a printer 1.) Left click Start in the bottom left hand corner of the screen 2.) Left click Control Panel 3.) Now, double-click 'Devices and Printers' or 'Printers and Faxes' 4.) In the Window you will see your printer, double-click your printer 5.) This screen will show you active print jobs, to pause or unpause the printer click File then click 'Pause printing' Hope this helps:) Answered on May 15, 2011.
